At Umiya Ispat, we have adopted a series of process innovations to enhance product quality, optimise costs, and reduce dependence on external raw materials. These innovations have enabled us to easily diversify into value-added products while driving resource conservation and sustainable manufacturing.

Umiya Ispat manufactures hot rolled (HR) coils using secondary route of steelmaking, wherein sponge iron is used as a primary input for induction furnaces. By leveraging in-house production of sponge iron, the Company has built a cost-effective model for manufacturing HR coils. This approach not only reduces the dependence on costly and increasingly supply-constrained quality steel scrap but also requires significantly lower capital expenditure compared to the primary route.

The Company has adopted the Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) process for stainless steel production. This method involves decarburisation, degassing, and refining of liquid metal in an AOD vessel. This ensures the production of high-purity, uniform stainless steel blooms and slabs. With this capability, Sambhv stands among a select number of players in India equipped to produce stainless steel, empowering it with a technology edge.
